Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH)

The Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH) program provides talented sportspersons in Years 7-10 with an opportunity to further develop their sporting skills and knowledge.

Within the MASH program, athletes are challenged in a supportive yet stimulating environment. We engage with local sporting clubs and organisations, providing our athletes with the opportunity to build their confidence in a range of traditional and non-traditional sporting contexts.

Combining practical and theoretical components the MASH program has a strong focus on enhancing our athlete’s sporting ability, knowledge, leadership and communication skills.  This ensures our MASH athletes are well prepared for the challenges of Senior School subjects such as, Physical Education Studies, Human Biology and Psychology, or VET courses such as Certificate II or III in Sport and Recreation (offered here at Newton Moore SHS).

MASH athletes are expected to represent Newton Moore Senior High School in school and interschool sporting events and are encouraged to positively promote the MASH program within local community events.

Students are eligible to apply and trial for the MASH program, with their sporting ability, leadership, teamwork, and communication, and supporting teacher reference guiding the result. Once apart of MASH, our athletes are expected to always uphold the school values and expectations.
