NMSHS Student Services

The Student Services team warmly welcomes students and their families to Newton Moore SHS. The team is dedicated to fostering wellbeing through comprehensive support systems. The friendly team includes dedicated year group Wellbeing Coordinators and Student Support Officers, who are further supported by the School Chaplain, School Psychologist, School Nurse, and Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs). They are committed to the wellbeing of students, providing support at every stage of their educational journey.

Students are encouraged, in the first instance, to discuss classroom concerns with their teacher or the Head of Learning. However, they can access Student Services support, on request, during break times.

When support is needed:

  • Reflection: Students are supported in reflective practices, using our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) values to understand and learn from their experiences.
  • Resiliency: We provide strategies and tools to help students build resilience, enabling them to cope with challenges and bounce back from setbacks.
  • Restorative Approaches: Issues between individuals are resolved using restorative approaches, which emphasize repairing harm and restoring relationships.
  • Future Focus: Students are guided to maintain a future-focused mindset, setting goals and developing plans to achieve personal and academic success.

This approach helps students develop self-awareness, build a strong, positive mindset, foster a supportive school community, and stay motivated and prepared for their future pathways.

Student Services is open from 8:15am until 3:30pm. Please contact us at (08) 9722 2400 for any support or assistance you may need. Remember, asking for help is a sign of strength!
